2006
Rahul Bhatia and Rakesh Gangwal founded the company. Rahul Bhatia had 51.12% of the share whereas Gangwal had 47.88% of the share.
2010
IndiGo became the third largest airline in India behind Kingfisher Airlines and Jet Airways.
2011
IndiGo ordered 180 Airbus A320 in a deal worth US$15 billion. Furthermore, it finally got permission to start international flights.
2012
IndiGo became the largest airline in India.
2013
IndiGo became the second-fastest-growing low-cost carrier in Asia just behind Lion Air.
2015
IndiGo ordered 250 Airbus A320neo in a deal worth US$27 billion.
2019
IndiGo ordered another 300 Airbus A320neo in a deal worth US$33 billion. Furthermore, it became the first Indian airline to operate 1,500 flights on a regular basis and have over 250 aircraft.
